Announce Rivers Results Now Or Else – PDP Reacts As INEC Suspends Rivers Election

The people’s Democratic Party (PDP) has condemned the suspension of Rivers State Governorship election Results as they urge INEC to Announce the results without delay.

They wrote, The PDP charges the INEC to end its manipulative schemes and immediately declare the result of the March 9, 2019 Rivers state governorship election.

The PDP rejects the decision by @inecnigeria to suspend the electoral process in the state, after results have been collated.

The @OfficialPDPNig alerts that this is a premeditated plan by the APC-led Federal Government to use the instrument of @inecnigeria and security agencies to truncate the wishes of the Rivers people as already delivered at the polling units.

Our party contends that elections have been concluded in Rivers state; results of the Governorship &HoA polls have been declared at the various polling units, wards and LGA collation centers & all returning officers & political parties in the ballot conclusively have the figures.

It is therefore incumbent on @inecnigeria to declare the final results instead of deliberately creating openings for the subversion of the process; a development, which exposes the Commission’s complicity with @MBuhari & the APC to enmesh the election into unnecessary crisis.

Our party cautions @inecnigeria to note that a lot of innocent Nigerians have already been killed by @OfficialAPCNg in its desperation to forcefully take over Rivers state. The commission should therefore save the state from more bloodletting by immediately declaring the results

Furthermore, the @OfficialPDPNig calls on President @MBuhari to reflect on the bloodlettings that have characterized this election, which many Nigerians believe, would have been averted if he had signed the Amendment to the Electoral Act.

@MBuhari should immediately call the security agencies (who have been annexed as departments of the @OfficialAPCNg) to end their siege to our electoral process. Any further delay is a recipe for escalation of crisis in our nation.

Ethiopian Airlines Crashes, Killing All 157 Onboard.

An Ethiopian Airlines flight carrying 149 passengers and eight crew members crashed early Sunday shortly after departing from the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa, en route to Nairobi, Kenya, the airline said. A spokesman for the airline told state television that there were no survivors.

According to reports, the plane was identified by its manufacturer, Boeing, as one of its newest models, a 737 Max 8. The cause of the crash was unclear, but a Lion Air flight using the same model of plane went down in Indonesia in October, killing all 189 people onboard. Officials are investigating whether changes to the Max 8’s automatic controls might have sent that flight into an unrecoverable nose-dive.

The flight on Sunday took off from Bole International Airport in Addis Ababa at 8:38 a.m. local time and lost contact six minutes later, the airline said. The plane is believed to have gone down near Bishoftu, southeast of Addis Ababa, the airline said in a statement.

The vertical speed of Flight 302 was unstable after takeoff, according to flight data published by FlightRadar24 on Twitter.

“I came to the airport to receive my brother but I have been told there is a problem,” said Agnes Muilu, at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi, The Associated Press reported. “I just pray that he is safe or he was not on it.”

The flight was carrying passengers from 33 countries; a spokesman for Ethiopian Airlines said that the dead included 32 Kenyans and 17 Ethiopians. The Global Times, a state-run Chinese newspaper, said that eight Chinese citizens were onboard.

The office of Abiy Ahmed, the Ethiopian prime minister, expressed condolences on Twitter, as did President Uhuru Kenyatta of Kenya.

The Kenyan transport secretary, James Macharia, said his country was setting up two emergency response centers to assist those who had friends and relatives on the flight.
