Buhari and Atiku are old men vying to lead Nigeria, CNN Africa’

The American news-based television channel. Known as Cable News Network (CNN) Representing Africa Region, today from their twitter handle refers President buhari and the presidential candidate of people’s Democratic Party (PDP) Atiku Abubakar as old men vying to lead Nigeria, despite having African youngest youth population.

CNN Africa wrote ‘ On first look, not much separates the two front-runners contesting Nigeria’s presidential election. Both are men in their 70s with previous experience of high-level politics. Both are from the same ethnic group. And both are Muslims from the north of the country.
Incumbent President Muhammadu Buhari, of the All Progressives Congress party, known as the APC, and Atiku Abubakar, of the People’s Democratic Party, or PDP, will face the Nigerian electorate on February 16 when Africa’s largest democracy votes.
Although they share demographic similarities, ideologically, the two men are opposed.

Boko Haram opens fire on Governor Kashim Shettima’s convoy

The convoy conveying the Governor of Borno State, Governor Kashim Shettima, was reportedly been attacked by Boko Haram. According to a report by SaharaReporters Shettima’s convoy was travelling from Maiduguri, the state capital, to Gamboru-Ngala when the insurgents strikes, by dividing his convoy apart and immediately started shooting gun shuts on them.

It was later confirmed that three persons were killed in the unfortunate incident.

Buhari, Atiku, Other Presidential Candidates Sign Second Peace Accord.

The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, and candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), President Muhammadu Buhari, have arrived at the International Conference Center in Abuja for the second signing of the National Peace Accord.

It was confirmed that the Secretary-General of the Commonwealth, Patricia Scotland, Bishop Mathew Kukah, former Head of State, General Abdulsalami Abubakar and some other members of the National Peace Committee were in attendance today.

The other presidential candidates were present too.

According to reports, they were told to work on code of conduct, so as to succeed a peaceful election.

The Chairman of the NPC, General Abdulsalami Abubakar also told the Presidential candidates to use the remaining days left to speak Publicly to their supporters, to stay away from any violence activities during or after election.

President buhari was accompanied by the APC Party members, while Atiku Abubakar went with his party team members.

President Buhari, Atiku, and other presidential candidates signed the second peace accord Today.

PDP Accuses APC Over Burning INEC Offices –As Election Rigging Plan.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has confirmed that 4,695 Smart Card Readers were destroyed in the fire that occurred in its office in Awka, Anambra on Tuesday. Just three days after the same fire incident in plateau State.

Three persons Allegedly shot dead as police and IPOB clash in Imo State.

According to reports, A police troops was deployed to rescue the tactless situation, but unfortunately the IPOB members allegedly attacked the operatives.

President Buhari and Atiku, To Sign Peace Accord On Polls Outcome Today

The presidential candidate of people’s Democratic Party (PDP) and the former vice president Atiku Abubakar and President Muhammadu Buhari of the All Progressives Congress (APC)will today sign a peace accord over the upcoming presidential election on February 16th.

According to Reports, the Former US President Bill Clinton shows concern to also speak with President Buhari and Atiku Abubakar this week to ensure peaceful election, his spokesman Angel Ureña said.

The former US president, Bill Clinton was earlier billed to deliver keynote address and to witness the signing of the peace accord organised by the National Peace Committee (NPC) led by former Head of State General Abdulsalami Abubakar.

The former US president however recently cancelled the trip because his visit to Nigeria “has the potential to be politicized in a way that is not in line with the goals of the Committee,” Ureña said.

“This is a crucial time in Nigeria, and President Clinton is hopeful that the election’s outcome reflects the will of the Nigerian people,” the spokesman added.

President Buhari and Atiku Abubakar confirms attendance today for the signing of the peace accord for the election.

President Buhari had on December 11, 2018 signed the first peace pact, tagged “Abuja Accord 2018” along with several other presidential candidates. The PDP candidate who was absent at the event however signed the pact the following day.
The convener of the NPC and Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Diocese, Matthew Hassan Kukah said the focus of first peace accord was on the conduct of politicians during campaigns, the second would be on acceptance of the poll’s result if the election is free, fair and credible.

FG Plans To Jam Telecoms Networks During The Election – Fayose

Former Ekiti state governor, Ayodele Fayose, from his twitter handle called out federal government on twitter for planning to jam telecoms network on election day, which will cause total disconnection to the internet and making phone calls.

Stampede Kills People At APC Campaign Rally In Rivers Today.

According to reports, About four persons were killed earlier today at the All Progressives Congress (APC) rally today in Port-Harcourt, Rivers state.

It was confirmed that the victims were killed as a result of stampede at the APC campaign at the Amiesimaka Stadium.

The incident reportedly happened after president Buhari left the stadium.

Number of persons sustained various serious injuries and have been evacuated to hospital for treatment.

According to the witness, it’s said that the victims were trapped at the exit gate of Adoki Amasiemeka Stardium as they were about leaving the Stadium.

During the PDP Presidential Campaign at the same venue, such unfortunate incident didn’t occur because the gates were left open for the crowd to go in and out.

Asari Dokubo Blasts Nnamdi Kanu For Calling On IPOB Members To Boycott Elections

 

Asari Dokubo, A political figure of the Ijaw ethnic group in the Niger Delta region of Nigeria and also the former militant leader, slams Nnamdi Kanu for calling on IPOB members to boycott the 2019 elections.

Asari Dokubo, has call out leader of the Indigenious People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, for calling on members of the separatist (IPOB) group to boycott the 2019 election.

He shared a video on his Facebook page, where he accused Nnamdi Kanu of deceiving IPOB members and leading them to their death while he goes behind to collect money and other benefits from those that are working against the group.

Asari Dokubo also state that boycottting the election will not do the group any good as they would have according to him, lost an opportunity to ”pay President Buhari back for the death of all their members killed since this administration came into office. He concluded by telling the south east region of Nigeria, precisely the ipob members to come out massively and vote on Election day.
