‘EFCC Has Arrested Atiku’s Lawyer, Uyiekpen Giwa-Osagie’ — Reno Omokri

The former aide to the ex president Goodluck Jonathan, Mr. Reno Omokri, from his twitter handle raised an alarm over the alleged arrest of Uyiekpen Giwa-Osagie, who is believed to be the Lawyer of the PDP Presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.

According to.Reno Omokri, the arrest was made on Monday 18th with the aid of 25 heavily armed policemen.

He wrote,
The @officialEFCC today arrested @atiku’s lawyer, Uyiekpen Giwa-Osagie with 25 heavily armed policemen. Is this why they postponed the election and implemented their #CoupAgainstNigeria? Their plan is to go after those around Atiku to see if they can cripple him before Saturday.

He added. ‘The EFCC should tell Nigerians why they have arrested Atiku’s lawyer? What is his crime? Who is next? Is it Atiku’s wives or his children? Is Atiku now public enemy? Is that why president Buhari instigated the election postponement Coup Against Nigeria? Why is PMB so desperate?

INEC Accepts Resumption Of Political Campaigns.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (lNEC) has finally agreed on the resumption of political campaign, which was suspended because of the last saturday general elections that was postponed.

The commission, at the end of its management meeting on Monday evening, confirms that all campaigns for the rescheduled Presidential and National Assembly elections end on Thursday.

This was revealed in a statement on the Commission’s verified Twitter handle, and signed by Festus Okoye, INEC’s National Commissioner and Chairman, Information and Voter Education Committee.

Nigerians urges FG to provide free buses to convey people to their voting unit.

Nigerians has call on federal government and wealthy Nigerians to volunteer free buses to convey citizens to their voting unit, over the frustration of election postponement.

The move was organised by Reno omokri. Who from his twitter handle wrote,

‘ I urge my nigerian brothers and sisters who wasted money to travel and were frustrated by the postponement, not to lose heart, I beg you, for the love of Nigeria, please make plans to return to vote.

The free #BusesForDemocracy are for any Nigerian citizen with a PVC who intend to travel for the purpose of voting, IRRESPECTIVE of who you intend to vote for. My only interest is DEMOCRACY. We must have a high voter turnout.

He added ‘ This is not about PDP or APC. This is about Nigeria. The buses I provide will be for any Nigerian citizen with a valid voter card. No one should frustrate voters

Buhari threatens ballot box snatchers with death.

President buhari has ordered security operatives to “deal ruthlessly” with anyone who attempts to snatch ballot box during the rescheduled general elections next Saturday,

He made the declaration while addressing at an emergency caucus meeting of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abuja today, just immediately after the comment president buhari was applauded by members of the APC Caucus who were in attendance.

The president issued a warning to anyone who may in any way foments trouble during the elections. especially by carrying ballot boxes, that such person would be doing so at the “expense of his life.”

He saidWARNING: “I really gave the military and police order to be ruthless… Anybody who thinks he has enough influence in his locality to lead a body of thugs to snatch ballot boxes or disturbs the voting system, will do so at the expense of his own life.

Pray Or Elections May Not Hold, CAN Warns Nigerians.

The Christian Association of Nigeria known as (CAN) has urged Nigerians to pray this week if they want the presidential general elections to hold.

Rev Samson Ayokunle, the president of the association, made the call during a church service at the Trinity Baptist Church, Ajobo in Ibadan on Sunday 17th.

According to him, he talked about the incessant problems going on in the country saying, “I want you to pray very well this week. If it’s about the things we see in the spirit, it is not sure that elections will hold at all. We won’t want elections to hold like they didn’t hold; if that should happen, it may cause trouble or even lead to war in Nigeria.

He also said, “And not only that, it is a reverse for a nation that was ready to vote in their President. We however believe that God is still in charge and the INEC chairman can never play with the collective wish of Nigerians. Meanwhile Be prayerful; gather this week to pray because prayers can do a lot within this week. If the writing on the wall, as revealed by the spirit, is anything to go by, if we don’t pray hard, elections may not hold at all.”

Customs officers shoot passenger dead over N5,000 bribe

A Nigerian custom officer in a viral video shot a man over several arguments between customs officials and commercial bus passengers.

According to the video, A passenger can be heard warning a custom official not to touch his phone, while some others were arguing with another official. As the argument continued, a voice is heard saying, ‘Shoot him’ and a gun went off immediately after.

The sound of the gunshot trembled some of the people at the scene to flee away while some others was shouting repeatedly that the Customs officers have killed someone.

Though the video did not capture the actual officer who pulled the trigger, it showed one of them clutching a gun standing over the body of the man who had been shot. After lifting the man’s hand, and seeing it fall limply to the ground, the official and his colleagues tried to get back into their cars, but the people at the scene, however, with anger, rallied and stopped custom officials from leaving the scene.

Five Boko Haram fighters, four Nigerian soldiers killed in battle

According to report, Five Boko Haram members, an officer and three soldiers were reportedly killed on Saturday, at Buni Yadi in Gujba Local Government Area of Yobe state, during encounter between troops and the terrorists.

Col. Sagir Musa, the army spokesman, who confirmed the attack in a statement on Sunday, said the casualties were recorded when the terrorists attacked a military formation in the town.

The Nigerian Army Special Forces School and 27 Task Force Brigade are both located in Buni Yadi.

Musa said five other soldiers were wounded and were receiving treatment in the Brigade Field Ambulance.

According to him, the Boko haram insurgents were armed with four gun trucks, one Mine Resistant Ambush Protection (MRAP), one MOWAC (heavy fighting equipment) and assorted arms and ammunitions. He also noted that nine AK 47 rifles, one anti-aircraft gun, 121 rounds of 12.7 mm anti-aircraft ammunitions, two 36 hand grenades, 295 rounds of 7.62 mm special ammunition and four Improvised Explosive(IED) Devices, were recovered from the insurgents too.

Musa said one IED cylinder, one RPG bomb, one RPG bomb charger, one gun truck and one Bajaj motorcycle were also recovered from the terrorists.

He also said that the Nigeria Chief of Army Staff Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai , commended troops for successes being recorded in recent times in the battle against insurgents in the North East and enjoined them to remain resolute, alert and decisive as well as professional.

Buratai also thanked all those who passed timely and credible information that aided the successful “abortion of the attempted attack on troop’s position in Buni Yadi.”In another development, Musa said troops deployed to provide security for the rescheduled Presidential/National Assembly elections at Iwaraja Junction along Osun and Ogun axis on Saturday intercepted three hoodlums moving towards Ilesa East Local Government Area, with intent to disrupt smooth conduct of the rescheduled elections in the area.

The army spokesman, Col. Sagir Musa, said’ the hoodlums would be handed over to the police upon completion of “initial profiling and investigation.”

He said one locally made pistol, one gutless, three rounds of cartridges, three mobile phones, one iPad, one Peace Corps face cap, one Peace Corps ID card and N14,300 were recovered from the suspects.

Cultists Fingers Politicians behind Sponsors Over setting INEC Buses Ablaze.

On Friday night, two persons were shot dead and about thirteen vehicles destroyed after some hoodlums attacked INEC office in Obot-Akara Local Government Council of Akwa Ibom State.

According to report, Those unknown thugs arrested by the police in Obot Akara Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom state that involves in the act of setting ablaze of vehicles at the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) office in the local council over the eve of the rescheduled presidential election.

After some various interrogation, the thugs therefore indicted two members of the State Executive Council and a member of the House of Assembly, as their sponsors. Though the alleged sponsors names were not disclosed.

US reacts to the postponement of Nigeria General Elections.

The US State department has reacts to the postponement of Nigeria presidential General Elections.

According to the statements from the US Consulate General in Nigeria, Stuart Symington, however said that ‘US ecourages Nigerians to ensure Free, fair and credible election by supporting the INEC while it finalizes electoral preparations’.

He wroteThe U.S. Embassy fully supports the joint statement by the heads of the ECOWAS and other international election observation missions on the postponement of the February 16 Nigerian elections.

We join in encouraging all Nigerians to ensure a free, fair, peaceful, and credible election by supporting the Independent National Electoral Commission while it finalizes electoral preparations this week and by voting in peace together on February 23.

Two persons were reportedly killed by unknown thugs over the violence that broke out at the Independent National Electoral Commission(INEC) office in Obot-Akara Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State.

According to report, The incident which resulted in the burning of many vehicles was said to have occurred after some unknown  thugs invaded the office where party agents and supporters were waiting for the delivery of sensitive materials from Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital.

Buhari Considering Amina Zakari To Replace INEC Boss —CUPP

The Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP) today allegedly saying that President Muhammadu Buhari is planning to suspend the chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Mahmood Yakubu.

According to the Coalition spokesman, Imo Ugochinyere. who made the statement available to journalists said,”

The Presidency had mounted pressure on the Commission to conduct election today in states where there were no issues and postpone only the states with materials distribution issues.

We are aware that he hurried back to Abuja today from his home state, Katsina, to sack the INEC chairman Mahmood Yakubu. But this should be resisted by all well-meaning Nigerians and the international community.

“The sin of the INEC chairman is that he refused to conduct staggered elections that will allow the President and his men to manipulate the process.

Ugochinyere claimed that President buhari was planning to name a National Commissioner, Amina Zakari, as the Acting Chairman, citing her experience as the oldest and most experienced National Commissioner.

Ugochinyere said,The President is planning to use the excuse of inability to hold election today (Saturday) as a reason for the imminent suspension.

Man Caught With Already Prepared Election Result Sheet In Umuahia (Abia State)

A man who identified himself as Gaius was reportedly on Friday caught with INEC sensitive documents and result sheets that gave PDP victory ahead of Saturdays presidential and national assembly polls.

Mr. Gaius who was apprehended in Umuahia by the police, during interrogation identified his boss as Mr. Chinenye Nwaogu, the special assistant to governor Okezie Ikpeazu on youth and the focal person on N- Power in Abia state.

He further admitted saying, The governor was aware of my mission, knowing the implication of what i have done, if i don’t carry out the assignment sent to me to deliver the documents especially the result sheets to the INEC, My boss will be mad at me and will stop me from further enjoying the federal government N-Power grants that I have already been getting,

According to report, He is still at the moment being interrogated by the DSS office in Umuahia, to help gather for more information on those behind the move to manipulate and rig Saturdays election in Abia state.
